Marcelo Bielsa has been impressed by Rodrigo’s work on the training ground at Leeds United, the Athletic report.
Thorp Arch star
Rodrigo’s time at Leeds to date has been one of rather mixed success.
The Spaniard was the club’s record signing, but his first season at Leeds wasn’t a rip-roaring success.
The 30-year-old, who Stephen Warnock has previously labelled ‘brilliant’ (BBC), showed his quality in patches, particularly towards the end of the year, but never really managed to nail down a consistent place in the side.
Rodrigo has now been given more opportunities this term, but there is a feeling that he isn’t ideally suited to the number 10 role.
Finding a role
With Patrick Bamford up-front, Rodrigo is never likely to lead the line for Leeds, and he doesn’t look entirely comfortable elsewhere.
Leeds’ coaching staff and Bielsa have apparently been impressed by his attitude, though.

Rodrigo is said to be very professional and a hard-worker in training.
With Bielsa a manager who demands high work-ethic from his players in training, Rodrigo’s efforts should stand him in good stead.
But it is getting to a stage where he really must start delivering on the pitch if he is to continue getting game-time, especially with Daniel James now arriving.
