Report: Bernardo Silva wants Barcelona move but Manchester City want £60m

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva could now make way at the club following the club’s mega-money signing of Jack Grealish this week.

Grealish completed a £100m move to City yesterday to become the British record transfer, eclipsing the previous figure of £89m set by Manchester United when they signed Paul Pogba.

However, with City still thought to be keen on Harry Kane and Lionel Messi now on the market, some players could be sold. And The Telegraph reports that City hope to raise £60m by selling Bernardo Silva.

Intriguingly, Silva apparently prefers a move to Barcelona. But their woeful financial situation makes any deal nigh on impossible at the moment.

The Telegraph claims that a ‘several’ of Europe’s top clubs are keen on Silva though. And Pep Guardiola is apparently willing to sanction the deal.

Silva has been an integral part of the make up of City since he arrived. Key to their success, the Portuguese midfielder has won three Premier League titles while at The Etihad.

Guardiola evolving again

One of the key facets as to why Guardiola does so well is that he never lets his team stand still. He’s added new players throughout his time at City, and even though they romped to the title, he demands more.

That’s why Grealish has come in. It’s also why he wants Harry Kane, and why he’s willing to let some move on.

Bernardo Silva hasn’t done anything wrong, we all know that. But with Grealish signed, Foden on fire, and De Bruyne and Mahrez key, Silva will find himself down the pecking order.

For £60m, he’s actually a bit of a bargain. It all depends if someone will pay that money in this current climate.
