Report: Belgian pair lining up moves for Everton outcast Kevin Mirallas
Kevin Mirallas is a forgotten man at Everton and he could be on the move this summer. According to Belgian media outlet Le Soir, two Jupiler League clubs are trying to sign Mirallas before the European deadline passes.
Royan Antwerp will go head-to-head with Club Brugge for Mirallas. The two Belgian sides are hoping to bring Mirallas back to his home country – 15 years after he left Standard Liege as a schoolboy.
The 31-year-old has since played for Lille, Saint-Etienne, Olympiacos and Everton. He made 186 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 38 goals, including 29 in the Premier League. But his career has been on the slide for a while now.
Mirallas has spent time on loan at Olympiacos and Fiorentina in the past two years and he could be on the move again. Royal Antwerp and Club Brugge are hoping to offer the 60-cap Belgium international an escape route.
For the sake of his own career, Mirallas needs to find a way out of Goodison Park before the European window shuts. It makes sense for all three parties if he makes his move. Mirallas would be seen as a hero if he returned to Belgium and he would be an effective player in the Pro League.
But his time at Everton has run out. Marco Silva is going in an entirely different direction and Mirallas has been left behind. He has served Everton well over the years but now it is time to part ways.
