Report: Barcelona want to sign Tottenham talent on loan, played on Thursday
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Tottenham talent Bryan Gil is attracting interest from Barcelona – and could join them on loan in January.
Gil, 20, has shown glimpses since joining Spurs but after 13 appearances in all competitions – he has failed to score, and laid on one assist.
While it was seen as a coup by Fabio Paratici to get him in a deal worth little over £20million and Erik Lamela – it is going to take time for Gil to adapt.
Now, Mundo Deportivo claim that he is on a long list of Premier League players Barcelona could target in the upcoming winter window.
The report claims that Barcelona cannot afford to buy any players in the January window – but are looking to strike loan-to-buy deals.
Left-footer Gil is on a list that also consists of Timo Werner, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard and plenty more. Tottenham’s stance remains unknown.
Gil to Barcelona: Loan without option could do Tottenham good
Since joining Spurs, Gil has been forced to feed off scraps in the Premier League and instead provide creativity in an under-pressure side in Europe.
He needs consistent game time, where he is going to play most weeks. At Barcelona, given their lack of attacking options, he might just get that.
It is a scenario that might work. Gil is renowned in Spain as a proper wonderkid, the future of Spanish football. He will get game time at Barca.
Securing a loan for Gil, without an option, would see him get good game time and restore his confidence before returning to Spurs next term.
