Barcelona don’t have to pay Liverpool an extra €20m (£17m) for Philippe Coutinho if he makes 100 appearances for the club.

What’s the story?

News over a year ago claimed the Reds would receive an extra £17m if the Brazilian reached a century of games. The figure is currently on 93 appearances for the Spaniards.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the news regarding the clause in Coutinho’s contract is not true. Sources from the outfit have claimed there’s no obligation to pay the figure.

The South American, who has been offered back to the Reds, completed a £142m move to the Spanish giants.

It was described as a ‘dream come true’ from the attacker, however, quickly turned into a nightmare.

A mix of injury hell and lack of form means the 29-year-old has struggled massively at the Camp Nou.

Roberto Firmino once said Coutinho has ‘magical powers‘.
