West Ham are now reportedly facing competition from Atletico Madrid for the signature of Manchester United star Jesse Lingard this summer as the pursuit drags on.
Lingard, 28, had a dazzling loan spell in the second half of last season with West Ham. However, he’s back at Old Trafford with his parent club and is currently still a Man United player.
According to 90min, La Liga champions Atletico are targeting Lingard.
It is understood that the Spanish title winners are keen on him because their manager Diego Simeone is a fan.
The report explains West Ham want to re-sign the English attacking midfielder, but are put off by the fact his price tag is more than £25million.
Also, the Hammers would be willing to take him on loan again, but the player wants a permanent transfer.
Irons manager David Moyes called the £75,000-a-week ace “exceptional” back in May.

Should West Ham abandon Lingard pursuit?
West Ham clearly want Lingard back at the London Stadium. He produced nine goals and five assists in 16 appearances for the club to secure European qualification.
However, it’s alarming no deal has been secured.
90min’s report mentions there is still a desire to take Lingard on loan once again, but news of Atletico’s interest is worrying.
The English playmaker wants a permanent move, so Champions League club Atletico are surely attractive.
