Report: Atletico Madrid rival Tottenham Hotspur for £13m midfielder Eljif Elmas

Atletico Madrid have entered the race for Tottenham Hotspur target Eljif Elmas, according to reports in Turkey. Turkish media outlet Hurriyet reports that Atletico Madrid have been monitoring Fenerbahce star Elmas and Diego Simeone is a fan.

Spurs and Atletico Madrid face competition from Fiorentina, Lazio and Sevilla for in-demand midfielder Elmas. The Macedonia international has been starring for Fenerbahce in the Super Lig this season and looks set for a big summer move.

Fenerbahce are demanding at least €15m (just less than £13m) for Elmas, who has played 33 times for the club this season. He has a contract until 2022 so they are under no pressure to sell below his valuation.

The 19-year-old is considered to be one of the best young players in Turkey and some major European clubs are taking notice. This includes Tottenham, who believe Elmas could be a shrewd long-term purchase.

After failing to sign anyone in the last two windows, this summer could be busy in North London. Elmas is one of a number of targets that Spurs have identified for the summer.

Tottenham have been linked with Elmas for a while but now they face competition from Atletico Madrid and other European clubs.
