This summer has seen Leeds United snap up Spanish international striker Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia in a club record deal reported (Sky Sports) to be worth an initial £27 million.
It looks a brilliant piece of business from the club, as they have hopefully added much-needed firepower to their attacking line for their return to the Premier League.
It was also a deal that took many by surprise, considering Rodrigo’s standing in the Spanish national team and links to other clubs in the past.

For example, just last summer Atletico Madrid were close on a reported (Goal) £56 million deal for the player.
But that deal fell apart and now, a year down the line, he is a Leeds player. But, it seems, that only became possible after Atletico Madrid actually passed on the player.
According to ESPN, Diego Simeone’s side were offered Rodrigo before he became Leeds United’s main transfer target.
Fortunately for Leeds fans, Los Colchoneros are not in a position currently to spend big on a new striker. They need to shift players first, hence why deals for the likes of Edinson Cavani or Luis Suarez have stalled.
Leeds, therefore, swooped in and will be hoping their new attacker will be making Atletico very jealous in the 2020-21 campaign.
