According to El Gol Digital, Ruben Neves is Atletico Madrid’s number one midfield target ahead of the summer transfer window.
Atletico Madrid will be hunting for a new central midfielder this summer with Thomas Partey likely to depart.
And Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Neves appears at the top of their summer wishlist.
Neves joined Wolves in summer 2017 and has been an instrumental part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s team in the past two seasons.
After helping Wolves to promotion last season, Neves has played a key role in this campaign. Wolves are seventh and on course for Europa League qualification after reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.
The Portugal international has been a mainstay in midfield, racking up 33 Premier League appearances with four goals and three assists.
Neves also has a goal in the FA Cup and has impressed with his range of passing, forming a strong partnership with Joao Moutinho in midfield.
But this has alerted Champions League side Atletico Madrid, who are second in the Spanish top-flight at the moment.
Alternatively, Atletico Madrid could move for West Ham starlet Declan Rice or FC Porto’s Danilo Pereira. But Neves remains their top midfield target.
The 22-year-old is rated at €50m for Wolves, meaning Atletico Madrid would need to splash around £43m to land their man.
