Report: Atalanta make bid for Tottenham target Tomiyasu
Atalanta have made a bid for Tottenham-linked defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The two clubs have been linked with the Japan international over the last week. Both clubs are in talks with Bologna over a transfer for the ace.
However, the Lilywhites have the edge over their rivals. The right-back is open to a move to the Premier League, according to reports.
As a matter of fact, Spurs were said to be ‘confident’ over sealing a deal for the centre-back.
The 22-year-old defender enjoyed a great season in Serie A last term. He made 31 appearances in the Italian top-flight in a season cut-short by a muscle injury.
Manuel Minguzzi described him as a ‘very versatile’ ace.
TBR View: Tottenham need to work overtime to convince Tomiyasu amid Atalanta bid
The club’s need for defensive reinforcement this summer has been a covered extensively.
Last season was a painful watch, especially on the final day of last season where the side conceded two penalties.
Tomiyasu would be a great signing, however, Tottenham need to work overtime amid a bid from Atalanta.
The Italians have improved over the last few years and will compete in a second successive season in the Champions League next season. Their bid may well be an attractive prospect for the player already in Italy.
However, history has shown us that money can talk when it comes to transfers.
