It appears that Atalanta are giving up in their hopes of keeping Timothy Castagne at the club, with reports from Italy suggesting that the Serie A side have already put together a shortlist of four potential replacements.

Calcio Atalanta is reporting that the Bergamo side have a shortlist of Joakim Maehle, Dimitrios Giannoulis, Alessandro Florenzi, and Mohammed Fares of Genk, PAOK, Roma and SPAL respectively lined up as potential replacements for Castagne.

The Belgian full-back is out of contract in a year and the Italian side are not willing to lose him for nothing.

That means a sale is possible this summer and, speaking to Derniere Heure (h/t Football Italia) last week, the versatile star admitted that if Tottenham came ‘knocking on your door, you can hardly refuse’.

As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Tottenham are reportedly keen on the player, who has one year left on his contract and is valued (Football Italia) at a figure in the region of €20 million-€25 million (£18m-£22.8m).

Belgian source Het Nieuwsblad has suggested Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has ‘a soft spot’ for the player, as he is a versatile player who has plenty of resale value and would be relatively cheap, given his current contract situation.

Now it seems that his current club are certainly preparing to lose the player and Tottenham should be getting ready to swoop.
