Aston Villa may have to brace themselves for a bid being made for Matt Targett this summer, with the Daily Star reporting that he is one of the players on Leicester City’s radar.
The Foxes are having to find a replacement for Ben Chilwell. As noted by the Daily Star, the left-back moved to Chelsea for £50 million this week.

And the Daily Star has suggested that Targett is one of three names on Brendan Rodgers’s wishlist as he looks to fill the void the England international has left.
It remains to be seen whether the Foxes decide to make a bid for Targett. But the Daily Star does note that the Villans may have to hand Targett a new contract.

The 24-year-old only arrived on a £45,000-a-week deal last summer. But it appears that the club may have to hand him improved terms.
TBR View: Villa should only be open to eye-watering bids for Targett
Targett showed some real promise during his first year with the club. He did have injury issues. And two assists is arguably underwhelming. But the glimpses of quality hint that he could prove to be a very good signing.
Nevertheless, Villa should not completely close the door on the possibility of letting him leave this summer. Leicester seemingly have significant funds to spend following Chilwell’s sale.
Dean Smith’s stance should arguably be to try and keep Targett. However, perhaps Villa should be prepared to stand aside should an eye-watering bid from the Foxes come their way.
