Aston Villa have reportedly signed attacker Jota from their fierce rivals Birmingham City.

According to the Sun, Villa have landed the Spaniard for just £4million and Gary Gardner will head the other way as part of the deal.

There has been no official word yet from either club, but the report insists that the deal has been finalised.

Villa are now preparing for life back in the Premier League next season following their win in the play-off final over Derby County.

Manager Dean Smith previously worked with Jota at Brentford and it seems like a reunion could now be on the cards.

The 27-year-old is a right-winger renowned for his pace and trickery, something that has seen him be quite the force at Championship level in the past.

He made 41 appearances across all competitions for Birmingham this campaign, scoring three goals and supplying nine assists in return.

The dazzling wide man was more effective during his time at Brentford, netting 23 goal in 78 games for the Bees.

TBR’s View:

Jota is an exciting talent that should be reaching the peak of his career and a move to Villa would make sense.

Smith got the best out of him before and knowing the manager would surely help him settle with the Midlands giants if his deal really is completed.

But he’s never played in the Premier League before and only had a brief taste of top-flight football before in Spain.

It would be a big ask to make the step up and the attacker would surely arrive as an option to strengthen the squad.
