Aston Villa are reportedly interested in a deal for Ryan Kent. The Sun is reporting that the Liverpool man is a £10 million target for the club. The report states that this interest will not depend on Aston Villa winning promotion to the Premier League.

Kent has been in fine form this season. The 22-year-old has been on loan at Rangers and has excelled at Ibrox. His six goals and nine assists include one apiece in two Old Firm fixtures this season as Steven Gerrard’s side close the gap on Celtic.

Rangers are said to be keen on keeping the player as well, so Aston Villa will have a fight on.

Aston Villa could certainly use Kent next season. One of the current wide players Anwar El Ghazi is currently on loan at the club and depth in the wide positions has been an issue this season.

If Aston Villa can beat Derby County on Monday, they may also have a huge advantage. All other teams seemingly after the Liverpool man would not be able to offer him Premier League football next season. A play-off final triumph would afford him that luxury at Aston Villa.

If it comes to a straight fight between Rangers and Aston Villa for his services, Championship football could be a major detriment. If, however, Aston Villa win promotion, they will be very hard for Kent to turn down.
