Report: Premier League club to make second bid for Arsenal talent

Aston Villa are preparing to make a second bid for Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe, according to The Telegraph. The Villans saw a £25 million bid rejected by the Gunners earlier this month.

Smith Rowe has enjoyed a sound 2020/21. After making his first Premier League appearance on Boxing Day, he grew into the team.

He made 20 appearances, scoring two goals and registering four assists in the league. Smith Rowe played a key part in Mikel Arteta’s team and shone.

He is out of contract in 2023 though. It is thought that Arsenal want to tie the youngster down to a new deal beyond that period.

Villa hope to take advantage though. Dean Smith’s men finished 11th last season and new players could kick them on further during 2021/22.

Arsenal finished eighth last time around and won’t want to lose their best players. Smith Rowe captured the hearts of supporters which some sublime trickery.

Villa don’t seem to be deterred though. They are keen to persuade him to join and will make a second bid for the playmaker.

The Hale End graduate typically operates as a No.10. He can, however, play on the left wing and that versatility could be useful to Villa.

Jamie Redknapp was impressed with Smith Rowe back in May. He called the player ‘exceptional’ during a column for the Daily Mail.

This situation is getting a bit serious now for Arsenal. They need to get a new contract agreed with Smith Rowe, and they must do it quickly.

Arsenal need to add some quality this summer, but it should come at the expense of their more prized talents.

Smith Rowe falls into that category. Their supporters are already somewhat disgruntled and losing their star youngster would be so detremental.

Villa look like playing a waiting game and Arsenal must take these bids out of their hands and tie Smith Rowe to a new deal – quickly!
