Aston Villa remain interested in signing Christian Luyindama from Galatasaray, according to reports in Turkey. That is despite the imposing powerhouse recently missing a large chunk of football with a serious knee injury.
Aston Villa were seemingly keen on Luyindama last summer. Fotomac suggested that Aston Villa wanted the DR Congo star from Standard Liege after his impressive loan spell at Gala.
However, the Turkish side had an obligation to buy the bullish 6ft 3in star and that had to be completed before a sale could go ahead. A report from Star stated that Aston Villa had made an £11 million bid for the player, despite already signing Tyrone Mings, Bjorn Engels, and Ezri Konsa.

Luyindama has had a tough season in Turkey. The 26-year-old played 15 times before suffering the knee injury. However, Aston Villa are seemingly not put off. They remain keen on Luyindama, with the likes of Everton, Wolves, and Bournemouth also following his progress keenly.
The report from Sporx actually suggests that Galatasaray are not willing to sell and could offer him a new contract.
But with Aston Villa leaking goals this season, bringing in a new centre-back in the summer might be a genuine consideration for Dean Smith and co.
Luyindama would certainly bring an imposing presence to the Aston Villa backline they are perhaps lacking.
