Report: Aston Villa ready to sign £27m-rated Milot Rashica

The versatile forward is interesting Aston Villa and they could be ready to match the Bundesliga club’s valuation.

Aston Villa are hoping to complete the signing of Werder Bremen forward Milot Rashica following their club-record signing of Ollie Watkins.

According to German outlet Deich Stube, the player is now ready to quit the Bundesliga outfit and sign for Villa who are prepared to pay the £27 million asking price.

The 24-year-old has been with the German side since 2018 when he signed from Eredivisie outfit Vitesse.

Last season he scored 11 goals and registered eight assists during a season of struggle for his team.

He played largely on the left-wing last season but he can also operate as a No.10 or through the middle as a centre-forward.

Aston Villa completed the signing of Watkins from Brentford yesterday, whilst they’ve also signed Matty Cash this summer from Nottingham Forest.

Dean Smith’s team stayed up on the final day of the 2019/20 campaign and they will want to ensure a more comfortable season this time around.

With that in mind, his spending is unlikely to be done and signing a wide option could be ideal.

Trezeguet scored some important goals last season but perhaps struggled for consistency, whilst Anwar El Ghazi also struggled with the demands of the Premier League.

Rashica would be signing from a physically demanding Bundesliga and at 24 he’d have plenty of time to continue improving as a player.

He netted seven goals and registered six assists as Villa won the play-offs and returned to the top-flight.

Last season he scored four goals and registered four assists from 34 Premier League games and Smith might just be looking for a bit more from his wingers.

Of course, Rashica could be identified as a man who will simply provide competition. At £27 million though it does seem to suggest he would come in and play.

With that in mind, El Ghazi could be the one to make way and Rashica arriving could leave him with an uncertain future.
