Report: Aston Villa primed to land Exeter City wonderkid Ben Chrisene
Aston Villa are reportedly set to win the race for Exeter City youngster Ben Chrisene.
According to Devon Live, the Premier League side have stolen a march on the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, who were both strongly linked with the midfielder.
The Reds are said to have previously invited him to Anfield to watch a Champions League game as a VIP, while it’s claimed Frank Lampard actually contacted the youngster personally.
Chrisene made his debut for the League Two side in August 2019, becoming the club’s youngest ever player at 15 years seven months and one day, beating Ethan Ampadu’s record.
In 2019/20 he made five substitute appearances for the Grecians.
Chrisene apparently turned down an offer of a professional contract from Exeter, and Villa now need to agree a fee for the player.
TBR’s View – One for the future
Chrisene clearly has fantastic promise judging by the level of reported interest him, which apparently has also included Fulham and Bayern Munich.
It seems Villa are in pole position right now, and them landing Chrisene could see them with a potential gem on their hands.
The teenager is already on the England books having represented his country at U15 and U16 level, which is further evidence he could be big in a few years.
Exeter have already produced an amazing young talent in Ampadu and maybe Chrisene is the next top talent off the conveyor belt for Villa to take over and develop.
