Aston Villa have confirmed their interest in Emiliano Martinez, with the Daily Mail reporting that Dean Smith’s side have made an enquiry for the Arsenal goalkeeper.
Martinez’s future at the Emirates looks to be uncertain as he vies with Bernd Leno for the number one spot in Mikel Arteta’s side.

He proved himself during the latter stages of last season. And the Mail has reported that he is keen to secure first-team football – which has prompted a number of sides to take a look at signing the Argentinian.
The Daily Mail reports that Aston Villa have now made an enquiry for Martinez. However, they also have other options on their wishlist and are reluctant to meet Arsenal’s £20 million asking price.

It remains to be seen whether a deal can be agreed between the two clubs. Martinez meanwhile, may perhaps be delaying a decision on his future until he learns what role he will play for Arteta this coming season.
TBR View: Martinez’s recent form hints £20 million could prove steal
Villa’s reluctance to pay £20 million may perhaps come from Martinez’s lack of experience at the highest level. His nine appearances last term took his tally to 15 in the Premier League since he joined the Gunners.
In that sense, it may appear to be a gamble. However, the form that Martinez did show hinted that paying £20 million could be an inspired piece of business from the Villans.
He hardly put a foot wrong. Arsenal fans would have been forgiven for being concerned when Leno sustained an injury at Brighton. But Martinez has since sparked a debate surrounding who should be their number one moving forward.
So perhaps the bigger gamble may come should Villa decide to look elsewhere.
