Aston Villa have been joined by Watford in the reported pursuit of Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

According to the Sun, Villa and Bournemouth have both shown an interest in the England international.

But the report now details that Premier League side Watford have entered the running for the 33-year-old.

It is understood Heaton has rejected a new contract at Turf Moor and could cost just £5million this summer, as he would leave on a free transfer at the end of next season.

Heaton is an experienced shot-stopper that has impressed in the top-flight during recent years and is one of Burnley’s top performers.

He has 65 clean sheets in 200 appearances for the Clarets and he’s a regular member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad, where he is a backup option to number one Jordan Pickford.

TBR’s View:

Heaton could be one of the bargains of the summer at £5million and it’s no surprise to see another team join the race for his signature.

Villa would do very well to win the hunt for his signature and Burnley will be losing one of their star players if he does exit.

Villa boss Dean Smith has already started recruiting well this summer and is getting together a group that can compete next season following their promotion to the Premier League.

A top-class goalkeeper would help the Midlands club ensure they stay away from a relegation fight next season.
