According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (3/11; page 61), Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Ben Chrisene, with the Premier League newbies inviting the 15-year-old to training.
Chrisene looks to be one of the most highly sought-after youngsters in English football right now. The Sun on Sunday reports that Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all keen on the Exeter City youngster.
The Sun on Sunday (3/11; page 61) reports that the England under-15 international is able to move in January when he turns 16, and his family are weighing up all of his options.
The report adds that the Villans have now joined the battle for his signature. Chrisene spent last week training with the club.
It says a lot about Chrisene’s potential that so many top clubs now want him. The midfielder – who made his senior debut for Exeter in August, becoming the club’s youngest ever player – looks to have an extremely tough decision to make.
Villa may struggle to compete with some of his other admirers on the financial side of things. However, Chrisene would be forgiven for being extremely tempted by the prospect of moving to Villa Park.
Dean Smith has a fantastic record when it comes to helping young players realise their potential. And he would certainly find himself closer to the first-team fold by moving to Villa.
