Aston Villa could look to confirm their interest in Callum Wilson by opening the door for a potential swap deal should Bournemouth make a move for Scott Hogan this summer, according to a report from The Telegraph.
The Telegraph reports that Wilson is keen to join a Premier League side following the Cherries’ relegation.
The report claims that the Villans are fans of the 28-year-old, who scored eight Premier League goals last season.
And it is suggested that they could make a move as Bournemouth consider an approach for Villa striker Hogan.
The Republic of Ireland international scored 10 league goals in the Championship last season. And The Telegraph reports that new boss Jason Tindall is keen to take him to the Vitality Stadium.
TBR View: Wilson move would be superb for Villans
Dean Smith certainly appears to need more firepower this summer. Neither Wesley or Mbwana Samatta proved prolific following their moves to Villa Park.
Bringing Wilson in therefore, has the potential to be a superb piece of business – particularly if Hogan moving the other way sees the price drop.
Admittedly, the Bournemouth man has only reached double figures for Premier League goals on one occasion in the past. So some fans may still have their concerns.
But he has proven himself at the highest level. And with it difficult to see Hogan making another appearance for the club, perhaps the chance to secure a swap deal is an opportunity that should be too good for Smith to ignore this summer.
