Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for AS Roma striker Gregoire Defrel.
According to a report from The Telegraph, the Midlands club are ready to explore a move for the 28-year-old Frenchman, who has reportedly been on the club’s transfer radar before (Calciomercato).
Defrel has fallen out of favour at loan club Sassuolo and has apparently been put up for sale by his parent club this month.

Defrel had a loan spell with Roma in 2017/18, which led to him being signed permanently for around €18 million/£16 million (Goal).
His time there has not worked out, and loan moves to Sampdoria and now Sassuolo have followed suit.
Given how it’s been going for him this term, it would be unsurprising to see him continue where he is, but could Villa finally act on their previous interest?
TBR’s view – Villa need better
Defrel would be a massive gamble by Villa considering his struggles so far this term.

Dean Smith desperately needs a reliable goalscorer in the wake of the injury to Wesley.
The threat of relegation is very real, and Defrel having scored just once in 2019/20 is a little uninspiring.
