Aston Villa reportedly have Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli on their radar this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the 27-year-old is being eyed by the Midlands giants and is also being considered by Bournemouth.

The report explains that Villa are trying to secure a deal for shot-stopper Tom Heaton too.

Bettinelli played just eight times across all competitions last season for Fulham and sat injured during the second half of the campaign, as his side were relegated from the Premier League.

The 6ft 4in colossus was drafted into the England senior squad back in September 2018 after impressing Gareth Southgate, but was unable to win his first cap.

He’s preparing for the Championship as it stands at Craven Cottage, but does have admirers from the top-flight.

TBR’s View:

Villa boss Dean Smith has already been extremely busy this summer and is building a squad that looks ready to make an impact in the top-flight.

Jed Steer finished last season as number one and helped earn promotion via the play-offs, but reports are linking the club with signing a new goalkeeper.

Heaton looks the preferred target as it stands and the Mail’s report details a £4million bid has already been turned down.

Bettinelli would be a far more risky addition for Villa and they may be better off handing Steer an opportunity.
