Spanish newspaper Marca has claimed that Aston Villa had a bid of £9.3million accepted by La Liga club Pione Sisto, only for the Danish speed machine to reject a move to the Premier League.
Sisto, 24, was in and out of the Celta side last season, starting just eight La Liga matches throughout the entire campaign. However, he did make a further 17 substitute league appearances.
The winger has clocked up 89 appearances in Spain’s top tier. He has scored 10 goals in that time, adding 14 assists. The Denmark international is renowned for his speed and ability to reach the byline before supplying crosses.
It is believed Villa had a £9.3million bid accepted for Sisto, but the Dane rejected an offer of £18,000-a-week deal at Villa – much more than he is currently earning as per the report. He has a contract at Celta until the summer of 2021.

TBR’s view – Sisto would have been a bargain for Villa
Yes, Dean Smith has been busy this summer and brought in wingers Jota, Trezeguet and Anwar El Ghazi. The club also boast the likes of Jonathan Kodjia and Jack Grealish, who can play out wide.
But it seems Smith was not satisfied with his options out wide. Instead, Sisto was targeted by Villa and they came close to landing the player – and he would have been an excellent signing for such a cheap price.
It remains to be seen if Villa will reignite their interest in January – if Sisto remains with Celta until then.
