Aston Villa are reportedly keeping a keen eye on the situation of Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.
According to Eurosport, Villa are the early favourites to sign the 23-year-old and they are currently watching him as a potential target.
It is explained that the Norway international may become available to sign at the end of the season if Sheffield United are relegated from the Premier League, with the Blades currently bottom of the table and 14 points from safety.
Berge, who joined Sheffield United for £22million, has been sidelined through injury since December and is part of the worst team in the division right now.
But the all-action central midfielder impressed in the English top flight during the second half of last season and has all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League.

TBR’s View:
Villa will want to kick on in the next couple of seasons and establish themselves as a top 10 club in the league, but in order to do that they need to strengthen their squad depth.
Depending on his price tag in the summer, £38,000-a-week (Salary Sport) star Berge looks like he’d be a great addition to the squad at Villa Park.
He’s a defensive midfielder with a great work-rate and he offers a real physical presence, plus he can be an aerial threat going forward with his 6ft 5in frame.
Dean Smith’s side already have the likes of Douglas Luiz, John McGinn and Marevlous Nakamba for the deeper midfield positions, but Berge would be great competition.
