Aston Villa are reportedly holding discussions with their midfielder John McGinn about extending his contract.
According to the Daily Mail, the Midlands giants want to secure the Scotland international’s future beyond 2022 amid interest from West Ham and Leicester City.
It is understood that Dean Smith’s side are “confident” of reaching an agreement and it may be wrapped up in the next few weeks.
The report details he joined Villa for £3million last summer from Hibernian and he played a key role in the club’s promotion from the Championship.
McGinn is set to get his first taste of the Premier League in the new campaign and he looks good enough to step up to the top-flight.
The 24-year-old was an all-action central midfielder in the Championship that was great going forward and defensively dependable too.
He made 44 appearances across all competitions for Villa last season, scoring seven goals and supplying 10 assists from the centre of the park.

TBR’s View:
It seems a no-brainer to secure the long-term future of McGinn, as he’s turned out to be a stunning £3million signing and is likely to play a key role in the Premier League.
The box-to-box midfielder has no obvious weakness to his game and quickly became a key performer under Smith.
He’s tenacious on the pitch and it’s going to be intriguing to see how he steps up to the Premier League.
The interest from West Ham and Leicester highlights his quality, which is why Villa need to tie down his future.
