According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa have made an approach to sign Northampton forward Caleb Chukwuemeka.
What’s the story?
Well, the Villans have made their move for the 19-year-old, whose brother – Carney Chukwuemeka – is already at Villa Park.
However, Northampton have rejected the approach.
The Daily Mail add that Rangers are also interested.
Additionally, the Daily Mail believe scouts from Tottenham and Newcastle came to watch him during Northampton’s pre-season defeat to West Ham.
Northampton risk losing the teenage prospect for a minimal compensation fee if they do not agree a deal with one of the interested clubs.
Chukwuemeka’s current terms expire at the end of January.
Newcastle might have an advantage

Interestingly, the Daily Mail believe Newcastle might have an advantage.
They state that Graham Carr – former Chief Scout on Tyneside – is now an Associate Director at Northampton.
His presence at the League One club, coupled with his contacts at Newcastle, could see Steve Bruce gain the upper hand in this race.

Only time will tell where Chukwuemeka ends up, but there’s no denying that he’s a fine prospect.
Despite his age, he made 22 appearances in League One last season, scoring one goal – in all competitions, he notched two goals.
Only time will tell where this exciting prodigy ends up.
