Report: Aston Villa close in on second summer signing who ‘looks a real talent'
Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of 20-year-old West Brom youngster Finn Azaz.
According to the Express and Star, the 20-year-old midfielder rejected a new contract with the Baggies to make the inter-city switch to Villa.
Azaz spent last season with Cheltenham Town, where the prospect aided the Robins to first place in the League One table.
The midfielder becomes the latest player to make the switch from West Brom to Villa.
The Villains were able to recruit former Baggies wonderkid Louie Barry in 2019 from FC Barcelona. The striker scored his first goal for the senior team last year in the FA Cup.
As per the Express and Star, Azaz will likely be loaned out for the season at Newport Town.
The midfielder impressed in League Two last campaign, with Gloucester Live reporter Jonathan Palmer labelling the youngster via the Express and Star as a player who ‘looks a real talent’.
Azaz will become Villa’s second signing for the summer following the arrival of Emi Buendia earlier in the window. The Argentine joined the Villa Park side in a club-record transfer according to the Guardian.
Dean Smith’s side are still keen on Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe. However, the Gunners prospect is looking extremely likely to sign a new long-term contract with the north London side.
