Aston Villa have reportedly had an offer for Lyon attacker Bertrand Traore rejected.
According to French publication Foot Mercato, Villa have seen their bid of £15.7million for the left-footer turned down.
It is understood that French giants Lyon value the player at £21.3million and this won’t be the last of the interest in him during this summer transfer window.
The report explains that Premier League rivals Newcastle United, Fulham and Crystal Palace are all still interested in his signature too.
Traore is an ex-Chelsea academy player, but has shown he can make an impact at first-team level during spells with Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem and now Lyon.
The 25-year-old is a rapid winger that likes to cut in from the right and hasn’t quite been able to nail down a spot in the Lyon XI.
Despite not being a regular starter, he’s scored 33 goals in 126 first-team appearances for them and certainly has pedigree having played in the Champions League last season.

TBR’s View:
Villa’s ambition this campaign has to be to avoid being in a relegation scrap again, as they are now entering their second season since returning to the top-flight and need to be looking upwards.
Traore is definitely an exciting talent that on his day is a real goalscoring threat out wide and could be a strong addition for Dean Smith’s XI, so the Midlands club should perhaps considering returning with a second offer.
They may need to act quickly amid interest from English rivals and they would be signing a player that should still have his peak years ahead of him.
