Aston Villa are just over £4 million away from agreeing a fee with Bayer Leverkusen for Leon Bailey now, Sport Bild suggest.
Getting close
They claim that Villa’s first bid was worth £25.5 million for the winger, who they have made one of their major targets this summer.
Villa initially had their offer batted away by the German side.
However, if Dean Smith’s side raise their offer by just over £4 million they will see their bid accepted.
Whether Villa will be wiling to stretch to pay Leverkusen’s reported asking price remains to be seen.
Second bid incoming?
However, the addition of Bailey could be extremely exciting for Villa fans.
With Jack Grealish and Emiliano Buendia at the club, Villa have all the creative options they need in advanced areas.

Bailey, though, could give them a more direct threat and his speed would be a huge asset.
If Villa could have Bailey, Grealish, Buendia and Ollie Watkins in their attack next term then they would have one of the most eye-catching front fours in the entire Premier League.
And the reports that they are so close to striking a deal look highly exciting for all at Villa Park.
