Report: Aston Villa and Wolves want Real Madrid defender Nacho
Aston Villa and Wolves are both interested in signing Real Madrid defender Nacho, with the 32-year-old considering his future at the Bernabeu, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.
Nacho is out of contract with Los Blancos at the end of the season. Mundo Deportivo reports that Real have offered the centre-back a new one-year deal. However, he is unsure of whether he should stay in the Spanish capital.
He has featured in seven La Liga games this season. However, he has not played 90 minutes since the opening day of the campaign. And he has mostly only come on for the final handful of minutes in recent months.
Aston Villa want Nacho
It appears that he could be offered the chance to move to the Premier League in January. Mundo Deportivo reports that the Villans and Wolves are both admirers of the defender.
As noted by the report, Unai Emery and Julen Lopetegui have extensive knowledge of Nacho, having been working in Spain before their moves to the Premier League.
It would be significant for either club to sign Nacho next month. He has spent his entire career on the books with Los Blancos, making nearly 300 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He has won the Champions League five times, while he has also won three league titles.
Wolves certainly need to make additions in January. They sit bottom of the table after a pretty poor summer window. But clearly, they have the potential to make the signings which will drag them away from danger.
Villa meanwhile, have had issues at the back. Diego Carlos sustained a serious injury after his arrival. So adding Nacho to their ranks would be a real statement.
He has been an ‘outstanding‘ professional during his career. And he would be a superb signing for either.
