Aston Villa are one of three Premier League sides interested in signing Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze on loan in January, according to a report from The Telegraph.
January looks set to be an important month for Dean Smith’s men. Their poor form has left the Villans in the relegation zone in the Premier League. And they recently lost one of their best players for a number of months.
The Telegraph reports that John McGinn is set to be sidelined for some time after being taken off against Southampton. And that has prompted Smith to register an interest in Tameze.
The Telegraph suggests that Patrick Vieira is ready to loan the 25-year-old out in January, and Villa have been joined by Burnley and the Saints in the running for his signature.
Tameze has made eight Ligue 1 appearances this season, and scored one goal. And he would arguably be a decent addition for all of his admirers, particularly on loan.
He is a combative holding midfielder, who is also capable of pushing slightly further forward. Tameze has collected 12 yellow cards in 71 top flight games in France, so he is not afraid to get stuck in.
It will be interesting to see whether any of the sides win the race for Tameze – and how influential he does prove to be if he does come to England.
The three teams are separated by just six points, so one inspired signing next month could make a massive difference.
