Goal have claimed that Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have both held talks over a move to sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic this summer – but face competition from five other European sides.

Grujic, 24, has spent the past two seasons on loan at Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin. He has clocked up 54 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and creating three more. Certainly, he has impressed.

The report claims Liverpool want four times the £5million (Goal) fee they paid for Grujic in 2016, if they are to let the Serbia international leave permanently this summer. He has played just 14 times for Liverpool’s senior team.

It is claimed that Aston Villa and Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace have held initial talks for Grujic ahead of a summer move for Grujic. Hertha want him back, while Gladbach, Werder Bremen, Frankfurt and Atalanta have all asked.

Now he needs to show he can take it to the next level. Staying in the Premier League with either Aston Villa or Crystal Palace will also give Liverpool the chance to keep a close eye on his development.

A move to Atalanta would also prove beneficial, with the Italians likely to be pushing towards the top of Serie A and competing in the Champions League again. Whether he would start, though, remains to be seen.

Staying in England would be Grujic’s best move.
