Angers striker Stephane Bahoken is attracting attention from a number of English clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.
As per the print edition of The Sunday Mirror (via HITC Sport), four Championship clubs – including Aston Villa – are interested in Bahoken.
Premier League-bound Sheffield United will provide competition as well as Aston Villa’s play-off rivals Derby County.
Swansea City are the fourth club interested in Bahoken, although their place in the Championship is confirmed for next season.
Aston Villa tried to sign Bahoken last summer and reportedly offered him a contract when his Strasbourg contract expired (according to RMC Sport).
But instead, the twice-capped Cameroon international moved to Angers. Since his move, Bahoken has scored 10 goals in Ligue 1 for his new club.
However, just one year on from his links with a move to Aston Villa, Bahoken could finally be making his way to England.
Aston Villa need a new striker this summer, regardless of whether they win promotion or stay in the second-tier.
Tammy Abraham has led the line expertly, scoring 25 goals in the Championship. But he is only on loan from Chelsea and the Villans will need to replace him if he doesn’t return.
Bahoken is reportedly under contract at Angers until summer 2022 (transfermarkt). But Aston Villa could launch a summer bid for the 26-year-old, who has been a long-term target.
