Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that three players could be allowed to leave Arsenal this summer. He has, however, suggested that Joe Willock could earn a reprieve.
Speaking to Football Daily on Sky Sports News, he said that Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Reiss Nelson and Willock could all depart during the current window.
Arsenal youngster Willock spent the second half of 2020/21 on loan with Newcastle. He enjoyed a tremendous spell, scoring in his last seven games for the Magpies.

In the case of Maitland-Niles, he spent time on loan with West Brom. He got the chance to play regularly in central midfield but the Baggies were relegated to the Championship.
Nelson wasn’t as fortunate as his fellow Hale End graduates. He made just nine appearances for the Gunners and was largely in the stands on a matchday.
He hasn’t really been given a proper chance to impress Mikel Arteta. Some reports have claimed that a loan move could be on the cards this summer.
Now, it seems as though Sheth’s claims suggest that he could be sold if an offer is forthcoming and that does make sense.
Arsenal want to do some business of their own. As a result, any incoming arrival at the club will force the trio back down the pecking order.
Arsenal would be wise to keep Willock
If the Gunners do get all of their transfer business right then Willock could be sold. There is no saying that everything will go swimmingly for Arsenal in that sense though.
The club aren’t in Europe next season and some players will have better offers. With that in mind, the club would be wise to hold onto Willock at this stage.
The 21-year-old really shone at Newcastle and with the Gunners in need of creative players, he deserves his shot.

Arteta has been known to give younger players a chance to shine in his team. With that in mind, he has to give the £40,000-a-week player a chance next season.
If he shines he could be Arsenal’s surprise package, if he doesn’t his form at St James’ Park should allow the Gunners to still get a decent price for Willock.
