Report: Arsene Wenger could join Ek's Arsenal takeover bid

Arsene Wenger could be set to join Daniel Ek’s bid to takeover Arsenal from Stan Kroenke along with the likes of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp.

According to L’Equipe, the club’s former manager would join his trio of former players, who wouldn’t take roles beyond advisory ones at this moment in time.

The proposed takeover from the Swedish billionaire has moved at a stunning pace with a bid expected to be lodged before the end of this week. It comes just under two weeks after the Spotify co-founder tweeted his intentions to buy the club from Kroenke Sport & Entertainment.

Wenger has spoken out over the move from his former players and the music mogul, warning the quartet they face a ‘mountain to climb‘, however, also lent his support to the movement.

Among the most pleasing aspects of the whole takeover is the heartfelt nature of the move. Almost everyone involved in the bid has professed their desire to take Arsenal back to the top of English football.

In the case of the former club figures, having played for and developed an attachment for the Gunners, there’s a pureness about their efforts to join Ek’s consortium.

In the case of the 38-year-old billionaire, he’s already revealed that he grew up a supporter of the club, hence his desire to buy the club.

However, in the form of Wenger, there is the added measure of having one of the most revolutionary figures in modern English football history. The 71-year-old could provide advice based on years and years of experience at the top echelons of world football.

And when mixed with the stunning playing careers of Henry, Vieira, and Bergkamp, and the business acumen of Ek, there’s a great combination the help the Reds succeed.
