Report: Arsenal's Emi Buendia talks escalate quickly
Arsenal’s talks over a move for Emi Buendia have escalated quickly, with the Daily Mail reporting that Norwich City are keen to avoid a summer-long transfer saga.
It is looking increasingly likely that Buendia will join one of the Canaries’ Premier League rivals for next season.
The Daily Mail claims that talks with Arsenal are underway, while Aston Villa are also pursuing the £40 million-rated attacking midfielder.
The report suggests that Norwich have accepted that Buendia will leave Carrow Road this summer. And thus, discussions with the Gunners have apparently escalated quickly.
TBR View: Fantastic early statement if Arsenal land Buendia
It does appear that there is some work to do before Arsenal complete a deal and win the race for Buendia.
However, it is an incredibly promising sign that they have acted so swiftly.
It would be a surprise if more sides were not interested in the 24-year-old. He scored 15 goals and contributed 16 assists last season.
He was the best player in the Championship having previously impressed in the top flight.
Arsenal need to add greater quality to their ranks in that final third this summer.
It remains to be seen if Martin Odegaard returns after his promising loan spell.
But if they miss out, Buendia would arguably be an amazing alternative target to land.
