Arsenal youngster Miguel Azeez has been working hard on his physique and off-the-ball work during the summer.

What’s the story?

The 18-year-old has been more involved with the first team this summer after impressing for the youth sides last season.

Azeez played 24 times across the under-18s and under-23s, scoring five times and registering two assists.

It’s earned the midfielder a chance with Mikel Arteta’s side this summer. He came off the bench to score for the Gunners in their 4-1 win over Watford last week.

According to football.london, the youngster has been working hard during the off-season. Azeez has been bulking up and worked on the physical aspect of his game.

It’s also claimed his potential was spotted by Per Mertesacker.

Working on his physique is important for Azeez if he’s to make the grade at Arsenal

Playing in central midfield is hard enough as it is. Being weak only adds to your problem.

However, you need the strength to be a strong influence on proceedings, both physically and mentally.

The centre of midfield is one of the toughest positions on the pitch. You’re at the heart of the game both on and off the ball.

It requires a wide range of skillset, and that includes strength if your best ability is carrying the ball.

You may point to N’Golo Kante and claim he doesn’t look the strongest due to his height. But, his dogged nature is his very show of strength and physical nature despite his stature.

Azeez needs to continue on working his physique among other off-the-ball work if he’s to make the grade at Arsenal.
