Report: Arsenal yet to meet Brighton's asking price for Ben White
Arsenal are yet to make an offer for Brighton defender Ben White which the Seagulls deem as acceptable, according to The Argus.
The Gunners had been hoping to complete a deal for White now that the Euros is over and done with. The defender didn’t play a part, but will have benefitted from the experience with the Three Lions.
But despite White apparently telling friends that he wants to move to Arsenal, the Gunners have yet to stump up the cash. The Argus claim that no bid for White has convinced Brighton to sell as yet, and the club are in no rush to move him on either.
White has emerged as a key target for Mikel Arteta and Edu. Brighton are believed to want north of £50m for their man. However, so far, that fee hasn’t been met.
Arsenal have already signed Nuno Tavares this summer, while a deal for Albert Lokonga is also close. The Gunners also want a new goalkeeper, with Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone on the radar.
The deal for White will probably end up going through but it’s interesting to hear from the Brighton side of things. They’re clearly standing firm, and won’t be bullied by the Gunners into a lower price.
In fairness to them, Brighton are right to dig their heels. White has so much potential and now he’s an England man, his value has soared.
Arsenal will need to make sure they get the right deal structured here. Only then, will Brighton allow White to leave you’d think.
