Report: Arsenal will sell Ainsley Maitland-Niles for between £15-20m
According to a report from The Telegraph, Arsenal are hoping to bring in around £20m for Ainsley Maitland-Niles this summer.
The report, which lists a number of players who could leave the Gunners on a permanent basis, has Maitland-Niles among those names.
The 23-year-old has been at West Brom since January. He has had regular football under Sam Allardyce but in all seriousness, has not shown anything like the sort of form Joe Willock has up in Newcastle.
It seems, then, that Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are now willing to cash in. The Telegraph claims the Gunners are looking for between £15-20m for Maitland-Niles, and it’s claimed there’ll be a host of suitors interested.
The versatile midfielder was on the brink of making an impact both with Arsenal and England last year. But his progress has stalled and a move away could be the best for all parties here.
Mikel Arteta had previously thrown the gauntlet down for Maitland-Niles. The Spaniard telling his young star that he had ‘all the attributes to be an important player’ for the club, but that, ultimately, it was down to him.
TBR View: Maitland-Niles needs to move on for his own good
There’s no point sticking around at Arsenal. Maitland-Niles is clearly not in favour and Mikel Arteta obviously doesn’t fancy him too much either.
He’s 23 now, so a move away is the best thing he could do. He’ll cement a Premier League move easily, and hopefully he’ll get regular games and get back to the levels he has shown previously.
At around £20m, he might prove a bit of a snip for a number of clubs.
