Arsenal are ready to kick on with the transfer plans now the Euros is over and could land one top target for just £20m.

The Gunners know that they need to get things right this summer as they look to go one better and finally beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.

For Mikel Arteta, it’s all about making the right signings in the right positions and ensuring that he gives his Arsenal squad the best chance of success.

Of course, a new midfielder is something the Gunners have talked for a while now.

With Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard locked in, there is a fight on for the third slot in midfield next to them.

And according to reports, Arsenal are now ready to ramp up their attempts to fill that void by signing a Euro 2024 winner.

Arsenal ready to intensify efforts to sign Mikel Merino

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Arsenal are now planning to ramp up their bid to sign Merino now that the Euros has finished.

Merino, of course, was part of the successful Spanish side that beat England last night and he has emerged as a target for Mikel Arteta and Edu.

Indeed, reports have suggested that Merino is ready to sign for Arsenal, should a deal be agreed between the Gunners and Real Sociedad.

Intriguingly for Arsenal, a report from The Telegraph today also builds on GMS’s report, suggesting that Merino might be available for a paltry £20m.

The central midfielder is known for sitting deeper, which would in turn give Declan Rice more license to roam forward in the Arsenal midfield.

Dubbed a ‘world-class’ operator by Kieran Tierney, Merino could well be the ideal signing in terms of value and position right now for the Gunners.

Certainly, he’s one to watch as Premier League clubs get ready to press on with their summer business.
