Report: Arsenal will ‘listen to offers’ for midfielder, set price tag at just £15m

ESPN have claimed that Arsenal are willing to ‘listen to offers’ for midfielder Lucas Torreira as he continues to struggle for regular game time on loan at Atletico Madrid – and have set a bargain price tag for the South American ace.

Torreira clocked up a whopping 89 appearances in all competitions during his first two seasons at Arsenal after completing a £26million (Sun) move from Sampdoria. But last summer, he went on loan to Atletico – with Thomas Partey going to Arsenal.

He has clocked up 22 appearances for Atleti this season, but 17 of those have been from the substitutes bench. For Torreira, it means the Uruguay international will be returning to Arsenal in the summer – and the Gunners are likely to cash in.

Indeed, ESPN claim that Torreira will be allowed to leave Arsenal this summer. The Gunners are ready to ‘listen to offers’ for Torreira and are ready to take an £11million hit on Torreira – allowing him to go for just £15million in the coming months.

TBR’s view – £15million for Torreira is a fair price

It suits all parties. Unfortunately for Arsenal, Torreira’s recent loan spell will prevent Arsenal from getting the full price they paid for him three years ago. But for interested clubs, £15million gets them a player that can certainly exceed that figure.

A good deal for all involved, especially with Arsenal looking to raise funds to complete a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard and perhaps a new right-back – with Hector Bellerin being linked with a move to the likes of PSG, Barcelona and Juventus.
