Gabriel Martinelli has been on fire at Arsenal this season, and the Gunners will have to break the bank to convince him to sign a new contract at the Emirates.
That’s according to The Daily Mail, who claim that talks between the young Brazilian’s representatives and Arsenal have already begun, but an agreement is ‘not even close’ at the moment.

Arsenal will have to pay Gabriel Martinelli £200,000-a-week to convince him to sign a new contract
Martinelli has been absolutely incredible for Arsenal this season.
The 21-year-old has four goals and two assists to his name after nine Premier League games, which is an excellent return for someone who plays out wide.
Rumours about a new contract for the Brazilian have been going around for a while now, and the report reveals that talks between the two parties have begun.
However, the Gunners will reportedly have to table an offer worth around £200,000-a-week to convince Martinelli to extend his current £70,000-a-week contract.
Arsenal’s two highest earners at the moment, according to the report, are Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey, who both pocket well in excess of £200,000-a-week.
That means Martinelli will become the third-highest-paid player at the club if Arsenal agree to pay him the reported £200,000-a-week salary.

TBR View:
Martinelli’s current contract at Arsenal expires in the summer of 2024, but the Gunners have an option to extend that by two more years, which puts them in a fairly comfortable position for the time being.
However, the young Brazilian certainly deserves a reward for his incredible start to the season. Rumours have revealed that clubs like Chelsea are keeping an eye on him now, which makes it extremely important for the Gunners to secure his future.
The report claims Martinelli is happy in London and is keen to extend his deal. Now, it’s up to the club and his agents to agree on a deal that suits all parties involved.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming weeks and months, but the longer this drags on, more and more clubs will start to take an interest in the ‘phenomenal‘ Arsenal man.
