Arsenal were offered the chance to sign Felipe Anderson on loan from West Ham United this summer but at an eye-watering price.
The Gunners have been linked with the Brazilian winger this summer, with the Hammers clearly hoping to get rid of a player who appears to have no long-term future at the club under David Moyes.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal were even offered the chance to have Anderson on loan for the 2020-21 season.
On the face of it, that could be a decent deal. Whilst Anderson has not been at his best recently West Ham once agreed to a £42 million deal to bring the player in from Lazio.

However, the report also claims that West Ham wanted Arsenal to pay a £5 million fee for the pleasure.
Arsenal, it would appear, did not bite and have since brought in Anderson’s compatriot Willian on a free transfer to add depth in the attacking positions.
Whilst West Ham will be desperate to make some money off a player who is now an expensive bit-part player, there is no doubt they will need to reduce that asking price for a 12-month agreement. Indeed, the report seemed to suggest that the offer may not have come from West Ham, but rather an intermediary acting on behalf of the player.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will feel they made the right choice moving on and making moves for other targets.
