Arsenal are looking to finally address the situation surrounding Mesut Ozil’s contract with the club, with the Mirror claiming the Gunners are looking into paying up his contract.
It is claimed Ozil will pocket around £18m over the next 12 months, despite not being in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

But the Gunners boss is seemingly ready to act on the situation. Indeed, he will be hoping his board can come to an agreement with the German international, whether it be paying off the full £18m or coming to a more profitable conclusion for the club.
Either way, Arsenal will lose out on a decent chunk of change if they pay off Ozil’s contract. However, it will also give the club clarity in terms of the budget going forward.

The Gunners are trying to raise money this summer to fund a squad overhaul while they are also under pressure after releasing 55 members of non-playing staff last week.
This is best for everyone, Ozil needs to go – TBR View
It’s all well and good having a fantastic player on your books but there is no point in paying someone over £300k-a-week to sit around and do very little.
Arsenal addressing this now before we get deep into the summer window is a smart business decision.
It will give Arteta the clarity he needs in terms of money, while also getting rid of someone who seems to be a constant distraction from the good work the Spaniard has put in so far.
Smart move, this.
