Arsenal are looking to tie Emile Smith Rowe down to a fresh contract following his outstanding run of form, with the Daily Mail reporting that the 20-year-old looks set to more than double his salary.
Smith Rowe has been a standout performer in Mikel Arteta’s side in recent weeks. It is already remarkable to recall that the attacking midfielder went into this season having only made two Premier League appearances for the club.
In fact, it remains incredible that Monday’s win over Newcastle was only the seventh time that Smith Rowe has played in the top flight for the Gunners.
Unsurprisingly, Arsenal want to reward the academy graduate for his stunning displays.
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners want to extend Smith Rowe’s contract before the start of next season. And it is claimed that his wages could go from £15,000-a-week to around £40,000-a-week.
It is a smart move to try and extend Smith Rowe’s contract. As noted by the Mail, his current terms have just over two years left to run.
Arsenal are making the right decision addressing his future before it becomes any sort of talking point.
But in truth, it may not be too long before the Gunners have to think about even more talks. Smith Rowe has been one of the best performers in an Arsenal side that is flying in the form table.
Should he continue to develop at his current rate, Arsenal may soon have to start making plans concerning whether to improve his deal once again.
