Report: Arsenal want 'outstanding' speedster who's 'the closest thing' to prime Bale, £8.5m price tag

Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Filip Kostic this year.

Nicolas Pepe’s future at Arsenal is uncertain, so Mikel Arteta could well look for a replacement.

And according to Calciomercato, the Gunners have now set their sights on the Eintracht Frankfurt man.

As well as Arsenal, the likes of West Ham, Lazio, Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are reportedly eyeing Kostic.

The Italian outlet claims the above teams are looking for a summer move.

However, Calciomercato hints that Inter Milan could consider swooping for him in January.

This is due to the competition that could come their way as well as the fact Andre Onana will take up one of two non-EU slots next season.

At present, they’ve not used up either of those registration slots.

Kostic’s contract runs until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, so he’ll likely have plenty of suitors.

Tuttosport, via Sempre Inter, have reported that he could cost as little as 10m euro (£8.5million) in summer.

Can Arsenal land Gareth Bale 2.0?

The Bundesliga website wrote that Kostic is “an athletic left-footed wide player who can score, create, and mucks in defensively.

“Kostic is unique in his ability to marry attacking and defensive duties without an ounce of protestation.

“Gareth Bale – the left-back-turned-winger of circa 2012/13 – is probably the closest thing to a modern-day comparison.”

Adi Hutter described Kostic as “outstanding” three years ago, and he’s been consistently good throughout.

This season, the Serbia international has three goals and 10 assists from 22 club games in all competitions.

His overall Eintracht tally reads 149 games, 29 goals, 58 assists.
