According to a report from The Sun, Arsenal are interested in signing Scunthorpe United midfielder Joey Dawson – who is the nephew of former Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson.
Dawson became the youngest player in the Iron’s history this season. The 16-year-old featured for 16 minutes of their Carabao Cup tie with Derby County back in August.

He has not made another appearance for Scunthorpe. But he has been on the bench on a number of occasions. And he now has a very high-profile admirer.
The Sun reports that the Gunners are monitoring the teenager’s progress.

It will be interesting to find out what his uncle makes of the interest. The Nottingham Forest captain made 324 appearances for bitter rivals Spurs, so perhaps he would rather he was heading elsewhere in North London.
Arsenal have an incredibly exciting group of young players coming through. And Unai Emery has not been afraid to give them game-time in the first-team.
Competitions such as the Europa League can be a nuisance for some clubs. But for Arsenal, it does appear to be incredibly beneficial. It has given a number of their younger players a chance to really prove what they can do.
That has seen some of those prospects put themselves onto Emery’s radar. So it is no surprise that several are now featuring in the Premier League.
Dawson may be some way off being ready for that level. But seeing that that pathway to the first-team is definitely there must surely encourage the teenager that making the switch to the Emirates could be a brilliant move for his career.
