French website Foot Mercato has claimed that Arsenal have joined the race to sign Marseille star Boubacar Kamara, just days after West Ham United, Manchester City and Chelsea were linked with the versatile ace.

Kamara, 20, has clocked up an impressive 79 appearances for Andre Villas-Boas’ side despite his tender age – with 28 coming this season. The France Under-21 international has been moulded into a holding midfielder of late.

Indeed, Kamara broke into the Marseille side as a defender – but Villas-Boas has seen more from him, enough to trust in him in midfield. The Express has claimed Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham want Kamara, who is rated at £28million.

The latest report says Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Kamara – as are Manchester United. With just two years remaining on his contract, Arsenal could land the young Frenchman, a player that Arsene Wenger wanted in 2016 – as per The Sun.

TBR’s view – Kamara would be an ideal addition for Arsenal

Arsenal’s lack of defensive solidity has been a talking point for pundits over the last few seasons. Many believe the issue lies with the club’s central defenders, while some believe the lack of protection from the midfield is to blame.

Bringing Kamara in would boost Mikel Arteta’s options in both positions. Naturally a centre-back, the ball-playing defender is more than adept in playing the number four role. At less than £30million, he would be an absolute bargain.
